nv3550 fluid change
« on: November 06, 2010, 06:09:13 PM »
change fluid about every 2 to 3 years ,  its never black but darker than whats in fresh bottle

so, forgot torque on bolts so looking it up on inet see alot of 'never need to change', 'life time factory
fill'

do you need to change it or just top it off - i think it needs to be changed , i tow my willys and trailer
and i have never heard of a tranny that had fluid for life

Tranny gets pretty hot. I would change it every year or two, it's only $30. Need the lube from stealership so costs more than most. Just need to tighten the plugs snug as there isn't much pressure in there

along with the 'never change' postings i found a number of them saying to pour
motor oil in - in particular diesel engine oils - after 1000 people probably did so
they argued about the diesel not having enough anti foaming additive ... dunno

oh, 1 dude suggested trying cannola oil but he was just trying to urk someone

far as i know only mopar and penzsoil are for sure and i dont think either is synethic,
but 30$ every 3 years to be sure is a better deal i think

From my reading a few weeks back... This is what I found as suitable fluids

Mopar from the dealership specifically for NV3550
Pennzoil SYNCHROMESH
Royal Purple SYNCHROMAX
2003 TJ
