If it is a 2 inch hitch receiver on the Jeep, then fill your boots. I would be surprised if anything that you can reasonably put in that hitch basket will cause you issues.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

Gotta agree with w_squared on this one.

I have a Thule bike carrier for 5 full-size bikes that has never had an issue with the 2 incher on my 09 Rubibago.

The hitches are identical from the 2 door to the 4 door. The reason for the lower towing capacity is wheelbase I believe. The tongue weight is usually 10% of the towable capacity if I remember correctly. So if the basket weighs 50lbs I would imagine that you would be good up to 300lbs. Givin that the hitch should be the same as the 4 door and your not actually towing something that can overtake your jeep. I would call the parts guys and just double check that the hitches are the same and same hardware. ;)

Thanks for the info guys. We will get a hitch installed in the near future. The basket is so handy for camping.

Thanks guys. So, another question you may be able to answer. The sport s can tow 2000 lb. What upgrades do I require to up the tow capacity to 3500 lb?
A bigger Life Insurance policy.
An advertisement letting Calgarians know where and when you plan to tow 3500 lbs.
A tow truck to follow your adventures...

:D

Oh yeah and Welcome.
i have the Tower shuttle coming right now to go pick up my Ram that they worked on...:)
Saved me all kinds of grief and money. Parts at Tower for CJA members are very nicely discounted.
