ARB compressor and on board air
« on: December 30, 2010, 02:39:00 PM »
Since I don't plan on doing an ARB locker setup in the near future but do want on board air, I was wondering if this was the best option for me. I was looking at both of these ARB compressors. My understanding is that the first one is the best bet for offering OBA and the ability to add in a locker in the future if I want to. Will the secod one support OBA with the addition of the hoses?

What are you saying Al?  That this has been discussed before?  Really?

That's what I have too, Fras. Works just fine.

The second option is not suitable for airing up tires...it's really only meant to run lockers, which don't require the same volume of air.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

Why Fras? You don't wheel, so you never deflate your tires....................................................

I'm building for when I do have time  :)

I just need to find the space for this thing since there is no room under the hood.

As a side note, I vaguely recall the only thing you need to run ARB lockers from any other compressed air source is a pressure reducer.  Tanks help a lot, while they technically don't shorten the inflation time, you can pre-charge the tank so that first inflation goes fast, then it partially recharges as you change tires and so on. Granted, finding the space for any reasonable size tank is tough!

I have space for a few VIAIR tanks under the Jeep if I go that route, there are a few spots between the frame rails a crossmember could be added to support them with a skid. As Trevor so eloquently pointed out, I dont wheel much right now and dont need it all that much.

Are you going for the "cool factor"? Why bother if you aren't going to use it?

It was more in reference to the  use of tanks with the compressor. I really just need it for tires until I get lockers set up down the road and it would be nice to be able to use it for both. :)

:joke about driveshaft here:
