just stay on the trail and youll be fine ..

try to take your time and pick the right lines    study others and how they go over or through things . watch how there jeep reacts and that will teach you how to wheel safer and make it way easier for you to become a better wheeler

Also bear in mind that there's a detour around that spot that dinged Silverfox.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

There is some truth to that.

If you put the "if Billy's dauther is in the Jeep, It must be safe" factor in effect... I'm not to sure if one should study others to teach him/her to be safer... SpecialK... what do you think about that?  ;D

Watch, listen, ask questions, take it slow and know your Limits...  Our runs are as safe as we can make them but remember that you are driving a vehicle offroad and there are always possibilities of something going sideways... even your JK  ;)

we will make a final decision when we gather at smittys. we'll see who all shows up and plan from there. but the falls or the lake will be prime targets. so similar to new years run but different. im betting theres more snow now.
the fun will be in the trail we go on, we may not make it to the falls or lake, but if we have fun trying then thats what we want.
fluids were mentioned, engine oil, power steering, auto trans fluid, water for you and your engine, diff fluids. snow/winter wheeling can work the mechanicals pretty hard, engines get hot quick.
warm and comfy clothes for you and passengers. cotton kills kids, cotton kills... ;D
food of course. high in calories, keeps you warm. i recommend cold day old pizza!

i remember its a bit of a drive to get from cochrane to the trails so it would be real nice to be out of the smittys parking lot before 1030am. we may have a good sized group so getting to smittys 9ish would be swell. the weather will be perfect so the trails will be a lot of fun!

fueling up before we meet at smittys would be nice too, fill up when you get into cochrane. airing down at smittys probably wouldnt hurt. due to the roads i dont think we will be driving fast. stock rims 15psi will be fine, good pressure for ride hight and traction. i was pretty comfy on my old 33's with 10 psi. bring ether/starter fluid if you're really concerned. re-seat a bead if we need to.

lets have some fun. winter gets long and boreing. get off that couch and get some fresh air! bring your stocker or your built rig.

sorry johnny, im not wheeling my ram. too heavy for winter wheeling. once i se the trails then maybe ill bring it out another time before the snow melts.

Yup just to be clear.  I knew the risk of that spot, I watched Todd go through and saw how his rig rolled off the hump, also know that he is about 4 to 5 inches higher than me.  That 4 to 5 inches made the difference and you can easily see the mark on the door in the pics and that if I was that much higher it would have been fine.  I knew there was a chance of rubbing the rubi (I like the sound of that  ;D) but decided to go ahead anyway.  There are acceptable risks to me that are not acceptable to others......and acceptable risks of others that are not acceptable to me.

There are most always places to go around some of the more troublesome spots.

Todd gave me the heads up on any of the more tricky areas, approaches and hills and was also forth coming with advice on what to expect and how to approach.  In the two runs I have been out on with the club I have learned more about how my rig reacts and what to expect.

Having said that the potential of some damage is always out there, after all this is not a Sunday drive down a country road and even the simplest of offroad trails can provide opportunity for some type of damage.

Oh and did I mention............................I love wheeling :)

Ahh what the heck :) Ill probably get picked on for driving an XJ but ill more than likely show up for this one :) What a great excuse to drink hot chocolate and jeep on a sunday! I mean, afterall, what else would I be doing :D

Should be a fun run, and may even be able to bring a JK that fits all the above requirements, and also a couple extra handheld cbs for those trusting enough to return them to me :)

Will more than likely see you all at the Smitties! Hopefully Im not the only one there with an XJ... Immortal, you darn well better bring yours ;) Long live the square headlights!
I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

all the XJ haters, are just jealous of the fine endemic species. The XJ is a well evolved machine with in its surroundings its like a creature from Galápagos island evolved by natural selection. If you hear anything otherwise, its pure madness, its ok to be special.
