Rear Dana 44 for XJ
« on: February 24, 2011, 10:22:30 AM »
A few years back I pulled a Rear Dana 44 out of a stock '89 XJ.
I was going to put it in my 95 XJ but never got a roundtuit.
Now the XJ is being retired...any interest in this axle?
What is it worth on the open market?

It is a Dana 44 XJ axle, never wheeled, a little rough appearance wise (rusty, dusty, needs seals) has stock gearing for auto trans (3.53?) includes brake drums. Has not been opened or messed with after being pulled.

Definately needs some TLC before being installed, seals at a minimum.

I have tried finding one of these through a wrecker and found it to be basically unavailable.

There have been a couple for sale here in the last few months for around $350, might be a good starting point, personally if I didn't suck at welding I would be interested in it for my TJ. Good luck with the sale

Thanks for your opinion.

As to your TJ keep your eyes peeled, you may find a factory Dana 44...I picked one up off a guy for $250 who was building two crashed jeeps into one...he wasn't a wheeler and wasn't even aware that one axle was different than the other.

Whats goin on with your XJ Boone, selling it??

I just sold a dana44 a while ago, posted it for $350 obo and got lots of interest....and some lowballs lol. Does yours have LSD? If so, you can get 350 for it. I realized mine did when I popped the cover right before I sold it, so I didnt flex too much on the price.

3.55 gears btw.

Ya I'm gonna try to sell it whole but I'll probably end up parting it out...it has front and rear bumpers (Nate's), nearly new 33's (Km2), Rusty's crossmember, re trac bar with a spare heim joint, blah blah blah...I'll probably throw in the axle if someone buys the Jeep...

was that the same one you pulled out in my garage?

I paid 400 for sahara4x4 to deliver one to my door a couple years back. Bolted it in and drove for a year or two before selling it.

If that helps at all.
