Something tells me this shouldnt have happened...
« on: March 22, 2011, 11:28:54 PM »
So I installed my brand new shocks today, and drove not more than 15' down my buddies driveway, before I heard that one let go :( At first I thought I had snapped one of the bolts through the bar pin, but to my utter surprise, it was the shock that had broke. I guess on the brighter side of things, at least I didn't have to drill anything out....  ::)

Its kinda funny,  because I'm replacing them because the old Rubicon Express Monotubes blew their seals, and they are both still within warranty. I picked up the last 2 from the shop where I bought the kit, as dealing with the Rubicon warranty right now may be a while... If ever. Well I put in the brand new monotubes, exact same part number as what I had before, and here I am again, right back at square 1!!!

Apparently Rubicons shocks are just re-labled Edelbrocks, so I'm a bit surprised at the low quality, (have had great luck with their carbs) but I have definitely learned my lesson here. Tomorrow I will be installing some Rancho 9000's, and hoping for a bit better luck with those :)

If they last more than 15 feet, Ill be a happy panda.

I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

Why don't you just weld it back on? If you don't want them I'll be happy to take them off your hands.

Welding a pressurized canister is the best idea I've heard all morning.  Let me go get my video camera!

That wheels of fire training video was pretty insane.. I never would have seen that coming, not after only 2 seconds of welding either!.. The good news is I am able to claim that one back and get a full refund on them, so I'm not out anything, and not stuck with a useless shock :) I may in the end even have a couple of spares, if RE comes through and warranties the 2 I'm replacing due to the seals failing. If that's the case, I may look at selling them cheap, or keeping them for trail spares. Hopefully the Ranchos work out a bit better :)

that parts failure is not good, but all most as interesting, where do you get "camo" shoes?  I have never seen that before.
2000 TJ Sahara - Sold
2006 Lincoln Mark LT - Bassani Exhaust
2007 Harley Davidson F150 - Nothing to note.

Hunting stores. You can even get camo underwear...so the deer can't see you when yer poopin'.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

Haha yeah, they are actually my hunting boots. Had them on because they are both waterproof, and warm!

Didnt have much choice when it came to color ;)

They also double as my wheeling boots for the same reason. And heck, if you see me on the trails, ill likely be wearing my camo pants as well! Again, waterproof ;)
