CJA Food Drive
« on: March 23, 2011, 09:00:29 PM »
We got an email from the Land Cruisers club (RMLCA) challenging all other off-road clubs to donate to the Red Cross Japan Relief funds (http://www.rmlca.ab.ca/).  The Toyota club is joining in their efforts.

We applaud the efforts of the Land Cruisers and Toyota clubs to help out the Japan relief, and if you are able, we encourage you to help in whatever way you can.  You can go to the RMLCA web site or the Red Cross to help out.

The CJA executive has discussed this proposal and we have decided as a club that  we are going to support our local community instead by collecting food bank donations (money or food) at all meetings and runs over the next few months. The needs of our local community are never ending, even when disaster strikes else where in the world.

So let's meet the challenge our fellow off-roaders have put forth!

We are also looking for someone to help organize this effort. Please PM me if you can help out.

Kevin

Alrighty... I guess I get to  head this up.. YEAH!!!! ;D

First off I will not be able to attend the Chile run so I need someone to gather all the (many) donations on Sat please.  I will pick them up from you Saturday night after the run, or Sunday.  Which every is better.
Also any one know if they can put a box at their work place?  If so, again I can do the pick ups when ever is needed.  I would like to set a goal of having everything (the $500 Challenge) in by the 19 of April, so I can make an official report to the club at the meeting on the 20.  Any ideas or suggestions would be great.  I think we can keep this going longer, but as Kevin said let's get the $500 challenge met ASAP!! and go from there ;D ;D....

Donations are non-perishable food stuffs, cash or cheque.  Pretty sure we can make the cheques out to the Calgary Inter Faith  Food Bank but I will confirm that tomorrow.

I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

So a note about money donations....Cash is accepted, but not cheques.. and anything over $10 counts as a charitable donation and as long as I get name, Address,  info I can get you a receipt for tax time next year!!!  The food bank will send the receipts out when the donations are received, so I would a personal receipt, and then submit all info to the Food Bank and you would then get an official tax receipt.  That way no one looses any money ;D

I have also got the "Wish List".... These are the things that they most need, so anything on this list you can bring to the runs, or let me know and I can pick it up...

•   Juice (1 litre)
•   Baby Formula with Iron
•   Pasta
•   Pasta Sauce
•   Canned Tomatos
•   Peanut Butter
•   Canned Beans in Tomato Sauce
•   Cereal
•   Canned and Dry Soup
•   Baby Food (jars)
•   Canned Fish
•   Macaroni and Cheese
•   Canned Vegetables
•   Rice
•   Canned Meat
•   Canned Fruit
•   Processed Cheese Spread (jar)

thanks for your support guys and gals

Mike
