Anyone here ever install alarms/starters?
« on: April 27, 2011, 06:07:35 PM »
In my 99 F250 I have a NuStart, it works great but I never had the door unlock/lock function installed.... I need that. The shop wouldnt do it because the door locker is weak, but I have some new motor actuators coming for it.

So basically I need some one to hook up my door locks for my remote. This isnt the first time I have said this but... I am NOT a wiring guy.

Beer or cash, your call.

My brother in law does that, I'll see if he's interested.

If theres no love from Vantagetes I may be able to help you as well Justin. Ive always installed my own, and the hardest part is always finding the right wires... Some doors run a positive pulse, some a negative. Some also use 3 or 5 wires and reverse polarity to move the plunger. The 5 wire doors if Im not mistaken require relays as well... If you have a wiring diagram or haynes manual for the truck Im sure we can get it going for you. May take a while, with some swearing involved, but its not a complex job by any means.  You will likely find the wires you need behind the drivers side kick panel, and then you just have to splice into those from the alarm brain. NUstart is just Compustars canadian division so if you have the equivalent compustar wiring manual, together with the trucks wiring diagram it can be done fairly simply.

I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

Im an installer. did the truck ever come with factory remote to lock and unlock the doors? if it had them its easy negative trigger( what the nustart puts out) if it didnt have factory remote locks then its reverse polarity(bitch).
i can get all the diagrams and have all the testing equipment to do it right.  pm me

its saying reverse pull. pink yellow and pink green in the kick panel. its easier to get to them in the running board, more room to work too since you need to split the wire.  I dont think i have any relays currently ill look around. but again if you originally had the remote locks its blue something in the kick if memory serves.

I'm going to post a link when I get home about saving the door lock actuators by adding foil around the motor... Or something. If one of you is up to that challenge and the door lock hook up there's lots of beer included. Maybe trade for fab work?

Anyways I appreciate all the info, I tend to stick away from any and all wiring due to tiny wires, tiny spaces, and lots of patience needed. My lack of patients and banana hands put me at a dis advantage....

Thanks again, will post link in a few hours.
