Vehicle Registration
« on: April 30, 2011, 05:28:20 PM »
Ok just wondering if anyone knows anything about registering a vehicle out of province?
Here's the deal: Every year we go home to visit relatives in NS for 4 weeks or so and we pay $3k in car rental fees, just wondering if its possible to buy and register a vehicle in NS with our Alberta drivers licenses. The vehicle would stay in NS. and only be used in the summer. Would save us tons in the long run!

i dont know why you cant own a vehicle n another province. best bet would be to call NS auto insurance company and see what they think. or maybe rent a car from a friend out there for much cheaper.

Better idea. Before you go to NS buy a cheap but "decent" vehicle out here. Drive it to NS, use it for the time you are there and then sell it when you are done. As it would have no rust it would be worth a lot more there. You'd probably pay off the cost of your whole trip right there.

I keep a car back there at the ol' homestead on the little red island.  Haven't registered it the last couple years but it wasn't a problem before.

I used to think that....until I moved here years ago.  Vehicles here are generally no less expensive and in some cases are spendier than back east....try to buy a nice foxbody Mustang GT around here for less than a kidney and your first born
