Help with Pricing
« on: May 02, 2011, 09:41:08 PM »
Quick question for all you Jeep Guru's.....We are sadly parting with our ZJ.  Have no idea what to ask for it and looking at Auto Trader there are no comparables.  Any insight would be appreciated.

It is a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.2 Quadra Drive. We've Owned since 2005.

Fully loaded.  I dont think theres an option it doesnt have.  Were the 2nd owners and it was driven by the wife 90% of the time. Have the manuals, both key fobs, etc.  All electics work fine. Aftermarket stereo but still have the factory unit.
166,300 km's right now (bought 73,000).

Could use new tires, and has some hail dings on the hood but thats it.

Thoughts or Opinions?

Mods if this is the wrong home feel free to move....

Thanks

vmr is somewhat useless in this case, if he prices it at the $5500 mark he will have absolutely no offers. 1999, 2000 models are going fro about $4500 right now.

yup Fraser is right;

theres two prices;  what poeple say its worth, and what people will pay.

there are plenty of ZJs on kijiji for over 5k. they ALL come down to the 3k range........ or people 'don't sell'

you could list it at 5, and haggle, drop price for months etc,

or list it at 3500, have a guy come to your door tomorrow with cash in hand and sell it in a few hours. (assuming its in great condition)

pretty much your choice!

The price of gas right now might have to be considered when setting a price right now as well. Not that the 5.2 Z's get bad fuel economy if driven nicely, but people will see V8 and think that its a gas guzzler. At a buck twenty some per litre the initial price of the vehicle might have to be more appealling.

Good luck selling.

That said I'll give you $500 for it if you deliver it. ;)

Wholesale is under $4000 on VMR for the vehicle described.

I bought a 96 5.2, with 166000km for $2900.  I also bought a 98' 5.9 (rare) with 220km for $3500, the latter being far more sought after, at least by guys who know their grand cherokee's
