Starting issues

 Recently my jeep has been acting funny when starting. It would once and a while take a few extra cranks to start then normal. It seels that now it happens alot more. Has this happened to anyone else? I was thinking the crank position sensor maybe, but it does not have the check engine light.

mine is doing it also, does it take quite a few turns to finnaly fire? does it start easily after its been running for a bit? I have been told the fuel pump may be part of the problem. apparantly there is some sort of one way check valve that if stuck open the fuel drains back to the tank instaed of keeping lines pressured up? i allready did a crank sensor, gonna throw a fuel pump in soon ill let you know if that works.

yes i have the same thing happening. i would be interested to know if the fuel pump cures it. thanks

i dont really believe in using the snake oil injector cleaners and other additives, but a plugged injector could also cause a hard start. My jeep has been leaking down on cylinder 2 ever since I replaced my injectors. Some days it will start fine, some days it will crank a few times, but I do know for a fact that I have that one injector that leaks down into the cylinder, causing the hard start.

I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

would one injector cause a long start? or just a crummy one? i have 220+ km so maybe it is.

Have you done a simple tune-up?  Fuel filter, plugs, wires, rotor/cap?  A plugged fuel filter, bad plug or wire or corroded rotor or cap could easily cause starting issues!

The simple tune up is also a great start. Yes one injector can cause a hard start. If its leaking down and letting the fuel from the rail into the intake it could very well cause a hard start. The engine will have to clear the extra rich condition before it will crank and run normally.

i have done a full tune up, also dont think that i have a leaking injector. if the jeep sits all day or over night it will take a little longer to start. sitting for an hour or so it does not. i read a diy about putting a check valve next to the tank somewhere in the line to correct this problem. not sure yet what im gonna do. :-\
