Wikipedia defines it as a is a frame used by indigenous peoples of North America, to drag loads over land.
Why does your Jeep say Toyota on it?

Yep. Saw it with my own 2 eyes. Definately a Trevois. Maybe kev would be so kind as to send us each a picture? I know he has some ;) I was too busy helping to lashing it with Trev to get any photos...
I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

So after a lot of delays I have collected some parts and received material.
I am using 2x3x.125
springs from a YJ.
Will order a axel  2000lbs once everything is together.
rims and rubber off my now gone MJ

I started building a frame but after a lot of looking and thinking I did not like the location of the cross beams so I ground all the tack's off and moved them.

What I got so far for the frame. once I have the axel I will locate the rear cross support and the middle one so they will be in the right place for the shocks.


I had to make plats to cover factory holes in the MJ box supports. I drilled and put tread inserts in to bold the box to the frame I want to be able to separate the two for future modifications and repairs


The inserts and tool to install them. they simple to use.
Drill the hole to the size according to the chart, drop the insert in, you may have to tap with tap hammer. using a wrench you hold one part of the tool and using a socket with the allen key in the kit screw it down till it is tight. the directions give to a torque spec. the insert crushes pinching itself to the material you drilled into.

Looking good, so what were the nutserts being used for? To hold the bed to the frame?

yea I want to be able to take the box off. The box needs some TLC, so just removing it will make it so much easier.

I have been finding some time here and there to work on my tralor.
I have the springs mounted,

The rest of the cross braces welded in.

I have the centers cut out for the 2x2 for the tong

What are the road rules for this? Unless it's OHV only?

Yep, coast ya round 150 bucks and they give you a 17 didgit serial number and away you go. Pretty painless actually.

Looking good Arron. You gonna put a toper on it so i doubles as a camper?

As long as its under 3500# gvw it's pretty easy as stated above.

Over 3500# requires an inspection. Funny thing is its not a safety inspection. They inspect it to make sure it's not made of stolen parts. The other thing that ticks me off about is that it's not the gov't doing the inspection but some sort of insurance board.

There are ways around it however......

I have a toper for it but I don't know if I am going to use it or not. I might put a rollup tunnel cover on it as well. I am not going to sleep in it. I have a really good tent for that. one day it will have a RTT on it but that is down the road. this is to more to replace the lack of truck and allow me to carry all the camping gear without taking up all space in the XJ.

When they do the inspection they will bring a 17 SN plate and rivit it to your trailer. Cant get resistration or insurance with out it now. Had to do the M101 to get it resistered.
