Steering Colum Problem
« on: August 06, 2011, 08:52:47 PM »
Got a 1987 Cherokee Wagoneer XJ, totally busted steering column.

Pulled a 1992 Cherokee column from Pick N' Pul, installed it, and found out it has a different wiring setup.

Mine has 2 large female connectors (on the dashboard side/car side) that hookup side-by-side to the a male connector fixed on the column under the dash.
The 1992 is just one connector, and it has the right design layout of the pins, but they are spaced out differently and just don't line up at all.

If anyone has a steering column I would buy it off of you.

I am looking for 7 male connectors on the colum, connector is 3 inches long going down the column and an inch wide. Its located about halfway down the column, just under the speedometer.

NEED A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM OR A COLUMN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE !!!!!

Thanks

No worries, just broke off the new switch on the new column and put the old switch from the steering colum onto the new column, and hotwired it.

Its running now and had help getting it out of Pick N Pulls parking lot last night, stashed it just down the road for the night.
