The Road King Truck Stop off Barlow and Deerfoot area has a great CB shop.  The guy there is great with helping you get set up with what you may need.    8)

For that price I'd probably just go ahead and pick it up

Even Cheapo CB radios like mine take a beating, they are pretty simple. I'd expect any Cobra radio to serve you well

What everyone else said....if you buy a Cobra, it'll probably serve you pretty well. Just understand that four other things will affect how well your CB works:

-What sort of mount you use
-Where on the Jeep you mount it
-What sort of Antenna you use
-What sort of coax you use

You don't need to spend much money on a CB setup....but cheaping out on coax, mount, or antenna will mean that your CB performance will always suck.

Also....you will need to tune your CB. Many members have SWR meters (to tune with), and most will help you out if you happen to ask them while out on a run. Some of us will even be happy to let you stop by our place one evening to help you tune.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

I've had a variety of brands over the years and the favourite 'hard mount' I had was this http://www.uniden.com/cb-radios/compact-professional-mobile-cb-radio/invt/pro520xlg/ and the handheld I like is this http://www.midlandradio.com/CB-Radio.WYQ/75-822.  The antenna can make all the difference too.  The one I have used and like is this http://www.wilsonantenna.com/fiberglass.php flex whip for a hard mount or this http://www.wilsonantenna.com/base_load.php for a mag mount.  Go see Dean at Comtek(Roadking) ;)

The black Wilson 4 foot flexible antennas stand up to trail use pretty well if you mount them carefully. They are vulnerable if you let branches and things hit them near the base if you don't have a spring on the bottom...but I've had one mounted between the tailgate and spare tire of my JK for better than two years, and I haven't had to re-tune it.

Since you have a permanent top on your vehicle, you'll get the best performance if you hardmount directly to the middle of your roof, with a spring under the antenna (like Immortal's mount) but you pretty much have to drill through your roof to do that, and I know that not everyone is crazy about that idea.

The Cobra 29 is the top end for Cobra CB radios. You cann't go wrong with it. Unless you screw up the antenna install. ;) It is bulky and can be challenging to mount. It run 29s in all my stuff as does my family.

They can also be "tweaked" for better performance.

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

I'd be interested in a 75 too. I already have the mount. Just need everything else.
