Jack Stands
« on: August 22, 2011, 10:10:17 PM »
Its me again he he, just wondering what I should pick up for a jack and jack stands. I don't really understand the ratings on them and being that my grand is lifted, I would like something that will actually get it off the ground.

Thanks

I would think some 6 ton ones would do, have some at PA for 60 bucks, min height of 15.5 inches, max of about 23 inches.
97 Red XJ, 4.5", 31" mud's, ARB front, 9500lb winch, bushwhacker's, warn sliders, HnT SYE and CV drive shaft - written off and sold for parts :(

i have 2 5tonnes which i use for suspension work and basically supporting the frame of a jeep when you need it off the ground.  also have a set of little 2 1/2 tonne ones which work great for everything else.

might as well get a good 3 tonne floorjack and don't bother with a little guy. its money well spent!

Even the smallest jack stand will support the weight of one corner of your Jeep. However once a Jeep is lifted its about how tall the stand goes. A higher rating "usually" is taller and has a wider base(more stability). For my lift I use 6 tonners set on top of some old wheel rims to get the height I need.
