Public land Use Areas

what used to called a FLUZ is now a Public Land Use Zone.

couple points that scare me.  like giving SRD the authority to close any trail at any time...........

 Its about time they close areas when it is too wet. We are our own worst enemy. Nothing new if we were in the USA. MNR closes trails if a certain amount of precipitation has fallen. At least that is my take on it from this on SRD site:
I understand government can now temporarily close certain areas. Why is this necessary?

    The regulation provides a management tool to deal with circumstances where it’s necessary to temporarily close access to public land. For example, off-highway vehicles may not be permitted in extremely wet areas susceptible to damage by rutting and spinning tires.

i have not read it all, i am just commenting on what you posted Johnny regarding TEMPORARY closures. i am sure there is stuff in there that might suck. i need to figure out what the whole 'vacant public land' means. It sounds like grazing leases might be off limits AND IF that is true, than that alone is far worse to us than temporary wet closures.

agreed 100%. On FB i asked about the vacant land use regulation as it suggests that all grazing areas will be closed to everyone but grazers. That concerns me as some grazing leases are already in areas that have designated trail. Hopefully SRD will clarify.

thats funny, i found out about it on facebook Tom.  its kinda sad that facebook is their best way to get information out. man alot of people posting on their pi$$ me off with their comments!

Grazing permits are in the green zone or forestry. Grazing leases are in the white zone or agricultere zone. Access to grazing leases has not changed since about 1920. You still need leaseholder permission if you want to wheel public lands in the eastern part of the province.

I haven't read any of the information on that link, nor do I care to, but the comments on the above posts alone tell me that once again we'll be leaving the decision  of our trails to the very competent folks or ASRD to be extremely fair to the off road users. For those that don't know me I'm looking all over the place on this forum board for an extreme sarcastic emoticon to post with my statement and can't seem to find one.

Glad to see ASRD jumping on the band wagon with the rest of the world. I'm sure our entire country can be run quite efficiently from Facebook, twitter and all that other crap. Does someone have the facebook account information? Sounds like a great place to vent off a few ideas.

Slightly off topic, but just at first glance of that account shows me they have set it up to bring out the worst possible examples of users and not a positive facebook account at all. I'm assuming they are trying to hit every possible system of communication available to them to justify continued closured to motorized.

Unfortunately all the respect I had for ASRD for so many years in the past has all completely gone out the window due to the many closures in the last 5 years, or maybe you could sense that.

There is a even bigger concern to the trail systems and unless you have been on some Hunting forums there seems to be no one talking about it. I also ran up ageist it trying to do work in the PC aria thats why that is on hold.

The grizzly bears are on the Provencal protected list, and the PC area is pretty much 100% grizzly bear rehabilitation area. The Government of Canada is doing a official count this summer as well as asking for sightings. If the numbers are not good they may go on the federal protected/threatened  list or the endangered list. If they make any of these lists the land density numbers for motorized access is going to go way down  and we are going to get the short end of that stick.

In the PC aria the logging companies are pushing roads threw for lots that will not be harvested for many years to come because if the road is put in now it will have to conform to whatever comes down the pipes.

Anything the Government dose will to be the extreme so they can say we are doing the best we can. and the voters that only go to the woods with their 35 foot 5th wheel can feel good about themselves. Then as time goes on and user groups fight, the rules will be slaked off.
