Take that winch back and throw another $100 on this one http://www.northridge4x4.ca/proddetail.php?prod=WARN-86245, delivery is free as well or drive to Ponoka and pick it up.

I had one of those winches, the directions told me to hook it up wrong to the battery, the connector broke out of the plastic cover on the second pull and had to rewire it on the trail, the winch burned out on the third pull.  I wouldn't even run one if it was given to me. I have the predecessor to this Warn and have abused the crap out of it and it still works with no hesitation.

There is lots of places to save money on your rig but make your winch on of them.

C'mon now Aaron. I like being a brand whore as much as the next person, but a Smittybilt is not a Champion. Just because it's not what you or I would choose to run doesn't mean that it's not an acceptable choice for someone that just starting out.

I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

I chose this stuff as it was on sale and a great deal. This is for the wifes jeep that really does not get used off-road that much. She got hit and had a dent in her plastic front bumper so I figured might as well spend some money and get her good bumpers that will not dent as easily.

Ouch! LOL Got a new driveshaft made by a friend that works in a local driveline shop! Should be good now. Just getting around to getting some more work done to it. Deciding on staying on 33's or going to 35's on the waggy. Leaning towards boggers  8)

I have seen Champions work there solenoids off and keep going. I just got a very bad option and from some other guys I know that have had them, they are not worth their weight in scrap.  For less than a $100 more then what he posted you can be into a winch that has proven its self over and over again.

Run what you want, but you have been warned by someone that has been burned by one.

And in all fairness I suggested getting the entry level one not http://www.northridge4x4.ca/proddetail.php?prod=WARN-38631 and say you should do the Australian special to it.

What would that be? Tickling it "down under"?

The Australian special is you modify a 8274 to have 2 motors and basically a gear box where you can choose your speed.
