Intense Subaru wheeling! for the lulz
« on: August 30, 2011, 05:16:28 PM »
quoted from auto blog

An Impreza owner decided to see just how much his car had in common with the screaming machines of the World Rally Championship by submitting it to a torturous, rocky section of fire road. After somehow enduring 20 kilometres of abuse, the car struck a rock, gouged its oil pan and came to a stop. The vehicle was subsequently abandoned there for some time, whereupon it was graffitti'd as well as stripped of its stereo and seats.

Fortunately, a few helpful off-road enthusiasts offered to pull the car out of the forest and back to civilization. There was only one real problem: making it to the fire road's exit meant bashing the hapless Subaru across even larger stones, while taking the trail in reverse meant covering 12 times the distance. The recovery team decided to pursue going forward, and mechanical carnage ensued. Call it proof positive that bad things happen to good cars whose owners make poor choices.

Actually that is not what happened. The piece of crap owner drove the Subaru up a OHV road/trail in Colorado. He drove it til it could not drive further. His full intention was to keep going until it died. His full intention was to leave it on the trail abandoned. He never made any move to recover it...
until his complete moronic selfish act was picked up by some 4x4 enthusiasts on the car forum that he BOASTED and posted on to show everyone his intention of destroying and leaving the car.
With pressure from the board he posted on, he RELUCTANTLY had to retrieve it. He put very little effort in the recovery until some other 4x4 enthusiasts documented everything he did and turned it over to Forest law enforcement. When it looked like major fines, charges and recovery costs were impending, he THAN got enthusiastic about getting the car out of the NATIONAL forest.
A local club in Colorado extracted the vehicle. Charges are pending and hopefully he pays BIGtime for a stupid and selfish act.
If you browse Pirate 4x4, you can get the real story.
