Dr. Jones and the quest for the holy Scrambler
« on: September 21, 2011, 11:04:56 PM »
So I am 90% done with my 5.3L swap.  I have a few questions on sourcing parts and a few small items, need an extra hand now and then.

Rig Specs:
82 Scrambler with Painless harness
2002 Chevrolet 5.3L / 4L60E / NP241 / D300
5.3L Harness and ECM worked by Wait-4-Me
FW D60/14Bolt - 4.56 Gears Detroit and an ARB for front.
Full Hydro Steering
Hydroboost
Stretched to 110" /frenched on waggy 4404's
Custom full family cage
For Wheels/tires its fit for 42's, but they were left in Texas. I have a set of H1's to recenter.

I have most of the fabrication/mechanical work done, just need to finish up the wiring and plumbing and paint it all one color.

I am not a member yet, I have made several events, met a few folks trading parts.  Made my first meeting tonight.  I will make an effort to earn my stripes, keep wheeling the wifes rig till mine is done.

This isnt my first build, but it is picking up a build in a new City.  So I dont have my connections/shops/knowledge base nearby.  Its been a three year journey spanning 3 cities, two countries.  I seem to end up working on others projects more than mine, Im too cheap to buy it all at once.  Its time to finish it up.

Things left to do:
-Finish up wiring
-Finish Plumbing
-Build fabricate triple stick
-Plumb Brakes
-Driveshafts
-Fill with fluids
-Start
- Fill Cooler

I also Homebrew in my spare time so I have plenty of working fluid on tap at any time. (Part of the reason Im not in a hurry to finish)

I can give you a hand should you need unskilled labour at some point! Being an economist I'm practically useless in the realm of anything mechanical in nature but am a competent lifter of things.
