Travel stories?
« on: October 15, 2011, 01:06:51 AM »
I know some of you have travelled outside of this great country, any good stories?

Something we would normally ridicule here but enjoy somewhere else in the world...

Eg. I just recently went ocean fishing in the caribean. Found a local with a "boat" so he said... I didn't really care, just wanted something to take me out past the reef about a mile out. Turns out it is a homemade wooden kyak, but wide like a rowboat. Small plastic cup to get rid of the water leaking in doubles as the washroom. Hole in the middle to sit in I guess, but since we were 2 grown men, we just sat over the hole with our feet in it. Water level dangerously close to the top. No engine, just an oar to paddle with, made of a 2x4 with plywood nailed to it. Life jackets were not present. Brought more beer then bait, had a blast!

But did you catch anything? A bad day fishing is better than a good days work.

Caught nothing myself :(
The guy I was with hooked a flounder and some tiny red reef fish. Same size as the lures I was using  ;D
I wanted to use it as bait fish but he was hungry and kept them both for a snack.
