WJ Axle Shafts

I was wondering if anyone knows if XJ axle shafts will fit into a 2000 Grand Cherokee. The 2000 Grand has cv axle shafts.

No, WJ axles are wider (read: longer shafts) than the more common YJ/TJ/XJ/ZJ axles. Also, WJs with Vari-Lock axles (Quadra-Drive package) have different shafts than non-Quadra Drive WJs.

Did any WJ's come with ujoint front shafts? Is there a direct swap in shaft from another jeep that works?

Never on a North American-sold WJ, but I've heard rumors they were available on European-market export WJs. At any rate, I believe in terms of axle shafts the WJ D30 is unique, at least the inners are. Any ol' D30 outer stub will work but the inners are a WJ-only length. Some guys on Mallcrawlin had Dutchman Axles make up some custom 4340 inners for around $300/pair that they mated to regular-stock 4340 outers and 760x joints. Alternatively, IRO has a full chromo U-joint conversion kit for the WJ but it's pretty spendy at $800.

Thanks for the help I just bought a WJ and all my spare axle shafts are XJ's. Anyone know of any wrecking yards in Alberta that would have acouple of WJ's in them.

Was able to find a CV axle shaft at NAPA for only $98. Not worth getting one shipped up from the south. Once again thanks for the help.
