attaching tailgate
« on: November 07, 2011, 02:33:37 PM »
Hey everyone, just wondering what you all think about attaching metal to fibre glass. My cj8's body is fibre glass and the tail gate is steel, im not sure if the body has wood or something inside for extra support plus there is no previous holes. Pretty much i dont want to ruin the body and have the mounting screws rip out trying to install this without a second opinion.

Thanks james

That rear section should certainly be re-enforced, if not completely boxed in?

I would use some thin steel plate on the inside to spread the load a bit, not that it really has much weight...

Make sure your latches are properly adjusted, or get new ones.

Yeah those are nice but im on a budget right now, those are kinda pricy. I was thinking diamond plate on the front but a piece of steel in the back is deffinatly a good idea. Thanks for the input
