so basically its a flange that comes with a bolt and a drill and tap.... u drill the end of your yoke tap it and install so it doesnt make anything shorter but say for a 3.5" lift and 31's i think it will work?

Yup that is what I got. When cutting of the shaft. Put transmission in reverse with the engine idling. This way you will get a straight and true cut on the shaft. You can even drill the hole the same way so it is straight Assemble with silicone on the shaft so there is no oil seepage past the splines

What are you putting it on? I've run XJs and ZJs with 8" of lift and the stock shaft by having the correct pinion angle.

However the SYE is nice to have if you blow out the rear shaft and need to drive out with just the front end. Without a SYE all the oil comes out of the tcase. Also most kits have you cut the output shaft shorter so it does actually lengthen your driveline.

Check out jb conversions super short sye, that's the route I'm going and will be ordering it right soon here.  It's a little more pricy ($350 with shipping), but gives a nice ds length and angle.

Kinda limited on sye options on a 242 case. Every sye kit for the 242 uses a main shaft that has been machined down to size and you still have to use the stock shaft extension housing. On the older two piece extension you get rid of the back piece.

I've already got an email in to JB Conversions. Just wondering if someone local stocked them.
