Rear turn signal issues
« on: March 15, 2012, 09:18:29 PM »
So question for the electrical folks

Issue: My rear drivers side turn signal does not work. Verified with 4 ways, 3/4 flash fine, and left signal flashes faster.

Things already checked:
- Bulb is good, I can swap sides the bulbs only work on the right.
- Rear driving lights work fine
- Reverse lights work fine (I know different bulb, but same batch of wires running back there...) I did read a common issue with grounding that the reverse light can get a small bit of voltage leaking to it from the other one but, no, I don't have that issue,
- Took a voltmeter to the pads, and it fluxes up and down 9-10v then 2-4 etc. same as the right side, yet the left doesn't work...

So any ideas? All I can figure is take it apart, clean it all and redo the grounds?

Have you tried it with a test light? If it flashes with a test light it's gonna be your ground.
You could try cleaning the bulb itself, tighten up the socket that it goes in ( ground ). Do you have continuity between the socket and the frame? If not its the wire itself.

So to fix it, do I need to start re soldering the contacts?

Check in behind the body on the rear drivers side (access from underneath) I had and now have more loose connections in there...

This sounds like a broken wire that is inside a wire loom that is somtimes connecting and then not connecting. Also, check the common ground for your rear lights.
