YJ front fender Hi-Line
« on: March 29, 2012, 06:38:29 PM »
Anybody here do a Hi-line cut on their YJ front fenders?
I found this, but I wonder if there is a cleaner way.
I don't want to do the hammer and smash technique used in this post.

if you dont mind spending a few bucks there are a bunch of after market companies building hi line fender kits. T&T Customs, Genright, Metalcloak all offer different versions. i liked the flat fenders and the rear trim. might be all you need. even after the dude did all that with the 4.5" he still had lots of space for those 37's. my goal for my yj is to use about 2-3" lift including 1" body lift. i have the genright hi line fenders on order from chanda and rear heavily trimmed and comp cut. hope to fit my 37" tires with room to flex. and if they rub then ill live with it.
there seems to be yj front fenders up for sale pretty often so you could buy a set for cheap and modify to fit without harming your current fenders. i bet tere is a better way of making the stock fenders work. the dude on jeepforum had the right idea, just a poor execution on the front fenders. his rear cut looked allright.

My front fenders are full of Bondo from the previous owner.
They are no prize, I will look into the aftermarket as well.
I also have access to a tube fender design should this fail.

That will be nice when you are done Fred. I cheated and went with the genrite aluminums to make life a little easier. Should get to installing them this summer.

It was somewhat easy, once I got over the Pucker factor ;D

Still a little work to do
Bang the inner fender around with a hammer.
Some weatherstripping on the bottom of the hood for safety
