Tires
« on: April 03, 2012, 08:30:36 AM »
I am looking to buy some new tires for the XJ, I wanted to know some of your input on some decent tires. I want some aggresiveness but not too crazy since it is a daily driver.

Post your thought please! I am looking at 33s aswell.

Thanks!

I bought a set of duratrac 33s. All I can say is night and day for on road. Can't review off road cause I'm stuck in 2 wheel drive but as soon as my gears get done Im going to beat on her. Then I'll let you know. But for a dd. can't beat

I picked up some 33 Duratracs from CT, should be in this week... 95%+ daily driver.

Also regarding wheels... what do you guys think of these?

If you're going with either of those, just buy the rims in my link above and wrap them in a few rolls of hockey tape.

Hockey tape has more traction than the Thornbirds

Go with another set of BFG AT again. You have seen my WK hitting the rev limiter and rooster tails from my BFGs lol. Remember the 101 last year

If you're going torun one set of tires year-round in Alberta for DD duty and some moderate wheeling, Duratracs are hard to beat. They'll do about 80% of what a good radial MT will do when wheeling, will behave well on the pavement, and do very well in the snow and on ice. I'd say that they're a better all-round tire than the BFG AT's - I've run both on various vehicles.

Another choice would be the Toyo M-55. They'll be more durable, but won't do as well off-road - or in ice and snow.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(
