Nitto Trail or Terra Grapplers
« on: May 20, 2012, 10:28:54 PM »
So I'm trying to find new tires and looking at the Nitto's. Does anyone have any experience with both tires out there, trying to see how the Terra compares to the Trail.

If anyone else has any suggestions on tires fire away I'm looking for advice. I'm looking for 35's to fit on my stock 17" Rubicon Rims.

i run 35x12.50 r17 nitto trail grappler MT's on my dd 3/4 ton dodge.
i specifically bought them for onroad winter conditions.
i have been a fan of bfg at's for dd. bfg PALES in comparison to the trail grappler mt!!!!

i actually was running the 35x12.50 bfg at on the truck when i made the switch. i kept the bfg's in case the nitto's sucked in winter. i sold the bfg's.

ok, offroad, these tires will shine in every condition.

terra grapplers i think you find in the toddler department of tires ;)

i went through National 4wd. i am sure there are other tire threads with places off the internet that are probably the cheapest.

I'm taking a trip to the states when I need tires. Call a shop a month in advance with tire and rim choice, show up and have them mounted and them drive back. You'll save enough of tires and rims to justify the gas.

compare with what national or modern will charge you for a set, and then check with national tire and wheel to see what it costs to send it to the border in sweetgrass montana, plus taxes and your estimated fuel cost to go pick it up.

looks like shipping is free right now to lower 48 states

I am running Goodyear Wrangler Territory on both my truck and jeep. Truck - 265's Jepp - 31's.
They have the winter rating. Price was very good, purchased at Canadian Tire, paid about 800.00 for
truck and 750.00 for Jeep. I would check Canadian Tire flyer, think they have them on sale.
Would reccommend these tires. Not sure if they make them in 35's, worth checking.

Does Canadian Tire sell anything larger than a 33" tire?  Maybe they can special order?  My nod goes to cross-border shopping.  As long as we keep gettting bent over on prices here in Canada, I will continue to send my money south, and make the freight companies a little richer.

Trail Grapplers are my next set.  Nothing but positive reviews from what I have read.

I found some at onlinetires.com for $285.39.  I am getting mine shipped to the border using a service company.  I think the shipping will be around $150.  The handling fee will be somewhere between $20-$80 (need to find that out), and  a tank of gas for the round trip.  The place I am picking them up from even installs tires!  All things considered, I will be saving around $500 or more.  Worth the drive IMO!
