Looking for a mechanic (shop) for TJ

Hey
I'm brand new to Jeeps, I bought one on the weekend on a whim, oops anyways, I took it up to speed and sure enough there is a wobble at about 70km, no biggie, it needs new tires and a balance should take care of it I thought. BUT, when coming down from speed, braking off the Deerfoot, the dreaded apocalyptic wobble reared it's head, yikes! Well, I'm taking it into a tire shop that's treated me right in the past for new rubber 235/75R15 BFG AT/TA. Should I get them to assess the front end, or should I take it to a specific Jeep type mechanic?

I've done some Internet snooping on the death wobble, and realize it's not just going to go away magically, but I can hope since the truck is not lifted or any mods on it at all.

That's great, they're right near my tire shop too! I'll be dropping by on Monday.

Whelp, I got the tires on and never got a chance to get it up to speed yet. The old tires were junk, and I mean junk. The guys at the tire shop looked at all the ball joints and wheel bearings and said they seemed ok. I guess there is only one way to see if it's fixed... Of course when I get some time I'll be checking them myself a bit closer.

Additional question, the rear seat mounts at the front, are they supposed to have a plastic bushing or something on them? The seat is a little rattly.

I had a similar problem with my tj 2 year ago, was just a bad set of tires, nothing else,

Once in a blue moon this summer after hitting an uneven bump at highway speeds I would get a little death wobble, I replaced the steering stabilizer on the front axle, havnt had a problem since, rubing stock tires you should be good to go, wait and see how new tires run, it could always be warped disks when braking at highway speeds,

Before you pay a bunch of money to a shop, see how the tires change things, it's more than likely a minor issue you should r able to resolve yourself

Aldo check ur front track bar... this past sunday went off roading and on the way back i was having major  death wobble i clesned my rims from the mud and it was still there tjem i noticed my track back has gotten worn out and had alot of play replaced it now every thing is back to normal

If it is your trackbar, and its the bushing where its attached to your axle housing you can buy a 28 bean bushing instead of a new trackbar.

Yeppers! Problem solved with the tire change. I figured it wouldn't be a biggie since the heep is stock height, but I just wanted to find a shop that could handle it if necessary.

i had bought it a while back but there was still a month or so before it became a year old haha
