3000 kms in 3 days
« on: October 10, 2012, 06:28:23 PM »
So Im heading east Tuesday morning, driving pretty much to the quebec border, now wondering if there is anything else I should do to my jeep to have it ready,

Suspension is pretty much all new, new springs, shocks, track bar, steering stablizer, front and rear, upper and lower control arms,
New upper and lower rad hose with a new thermostat and flush,
new rear brake shoes and drums, fronts were still good,
wheel alignment,

running my all season 31s out there, but will have my winter blizzaks just incase in the trailer, they will be manditory in another couple weeks anyway ( in ontario )

is there anything else I should do? just to be safe?

Its got a fresh oil change, but I couldnt check the tranny fluid? is there a dip stick I dont know about? or a way to check? had a new tranny clutch about 50 000 k ago, and hasnt been thought about since, diffs were done about 40k ago,

any ideas would be great,

Thanks

No dipstick, remove fill plug, insert favourite appendage, pull it out and if she's wet, she's good to go.

Don't forget a large wallet to handle gas prices... those winds through the praires will eat away at the gas miles...  Good Luck.. 8)

Before my trip to the JKX2012 I marked all bolts and nuts with a paint marker to see if anything was moving. Makes it alot easier for a quick visual.

brand new suspension, steering, etc...not a chance i would not re torque.
Every front end and/or suspension i have ever had done including a travel trailer had loosened when it was time to re torque.

The town I'm going to, my buddy has to put premium in his car, pays 160 a liter for 91, has to drive to the next town nd pay 164 for 94 octane,
I think regular is around 145,  that's why I don't complain when calgarys gas is "expensive"

I'd take a close look at all your u-joints - seem to have one go every trip I have done out east - those rough roads will take a toll at highway speed - although I suspect you had them out if you just did a lift.

Bring beef jerky. Can't go on a jeep trip without it!

Ende up burning about 20 litres per 100km. Just about 4th gear the whole way, wind and rain the whole way too, no over heating, weird vibes or any other issues, just empty gas tanks. Thanks again for all the ideas.
