help with back wiper motor
« on: October 13, 2012, 06:43:46 PM »
hey guys my back wipe motor on my jeep tj 2002 has stopped...

It first started with it stopping and then workin, then stopping and working. I looked around and found out that the plug was a bit loose so i pluged it in all the way and it started to work again... when we got this small snowfall I woke up warmed up the jeep and when I came to leave to work i turned it on and it was working as soon as i come to leave I noticed that it stoped.

I opend the motor up to see if the shoes are worn out but they are not even half way threw.

Im confused now is there a fuse that I cant see or find?

Another thing before when it use to stop it use to still spray water, now it wont spray or turn on. The front wipers work good and spary good

Any ideas?

thanks

First step is to find out if you have power at the motor. If not go back one step and check at plug. Then check at switch. Sound like you have a bad connection somewhere and I'd put money on that plug between top and tub. Most of the time you can find the offending pin and just give it a little tiny bend so it contacts better.

If you can't figure out if you have power at motor or not then ignore the other steps, and don't mess with any pins.

how many wires are there? Id assume there is only 2? 1 will be for motor control which should show 12v when turned on at the switch, and the other would most likely be a ground. It could be the switch, but if you are getting power to the motor, its not likely.
I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

i was wondering the same thing... I did noticed that the plug from the jeep to the hard top had an extention so i took it off because it was a waste of wire just hanging around, i have opend the motor and it seems fine clean and all checked out the gears and they are not binding so im not sure
