Fire arms licence
« on: November 04, 2012, 12:40:44 AM »
Hey guys,

I have a fire arms licence "Non-restricted"  but it has expired, I do have a shotgun in the house at the moment but that makes it Ilegal right?
Can i give it to my father to hold on to it? tell i get my licence?
Also i was reading on the renewal form and i read this

"The licence renewal fee waiver for individuals who hold a
licence that allows them to possess and/or acquire only
non-restricted firearms is in effect until May 16, 2013."

does this mean if I wait tell May 16 2013 i dont have to have a licence to have my shot gun on hand in the house and use for hunting?

Thanks

You still need a PAL to possess and acquire. Being that the registry is gone now you can give it to your father to hold onto, or you can also keep it without anyone knowing.... ;) Not sure what they mean by that may 16th clause, but Andy (morerpmfred) may be able to shed more light on that one.

Just go renew your license and all will be well again.
I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

No valid firearms license = not legal for you to be in possession of a firearm of any type. The paragraph that you quoted refers to a fee waiver for license renewals, and doesn't change the basic fact that the law requires a license.

I'd suggest having someone with a valid license (your father?) take possession of the shotgun immediately.

You may also find that you need to re-do the whole license application process if you've allowed your license to expire.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

Firearms registry is completely separate, you still need to have a license to posses or acquire a firearm.

Did you have a full PAL before or only a POL or minor's license?

There are a couple things here. You do not have to retake your firearms course to renew or reapply for your liscense.
Two types of courses.
Restricted and non restricted.
If you have your restricted course then apply for that as the quilifications and police checks are pretty much the same.
Renew means renew while liscense is still good. If expired yes you do have to reapply and process could take up to a year to get liscense again. No big deal if paper work is in place and waiting for liscense to arrive. So long as you do not go schitso in the mean time or do something stupid. Still against the law for possesion , not ownership.
If you have had your liscense forever and by chance you are in some of the other classes 12-1 to 12-5 (pre 95) I believe and if your liscense expired you can not renew those restricted classes ever again. Say good by to those firearms forever.

Thanks for the help guys, my license is non restricted. I can wait I can care less in the mean time I can have the dad hold on it since he's been nagging on me to let him use it.. its a side by side shotgun  and he loves side by side better better then a pump action.

So all I gotta do is refill the form again and send with it a pic and payment by visa and I'm gold right all I gotta wait for is for it to come in
