Somewhat local Light offroad/mudding!
« on: November 27, 2012, 05:08:23 AM »
Hey guys! So I recently got some new tires and wheels on my 2010 JK, looking to do a bit of light offroading, more preferably, mudding... Preferably somewhat local, though I'd travel up to an hour for a decent place!  I do not want anything too crazy, but somewhere I can get the ol' girl a little dirty!  My new 33x12.50R15 M/T Baja MTZs are craving some mud!  As I will be going solo as of yet, light mudding is good!  Let me know, and any tips, tricks, or recommendations/ideas, even rules would be great! Thanks in advance!

Mud at this time of year won't be easy to find unless we get a few days of Chinook.  Also.  If you are an hour away while mudding I would recommend do not go solo. crap happens when you least expect it and you don't want to get stranded especially in the winter.

Cheers

Mud causes sh!t to break...  you will find that, for the most part, the members of the cja don't go looking for mud.  The phrase  "tread lightly" are spoken here.  My recommendation if you like mud is to do fisher east at McLean in may...

We do light offloading a lot, could join us. No mud this time of year. And I heard stories of full sized trucks being lost in fisher east. I'd stay out of there lol.

Theyre never lost, they just make the pits more accessable in a jeep when you drive over the roof of some of the suburbans left in the botom of those bomb holes...

Agreed tho... Mud in alberta is silty. It gets into everthing, eats bearings, and wreaks havoc on vehicles here. To each his own, but I would not recommend mud.... Go wheel responsibly and you will still get enough dirt on the sides of that rig..
I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

Hey right on guys, thanks to everyone for the words of wisdom... And yeah I am just getting into this so I am pretty new to it all!  I signed up to Tread Lightly on a 3yr Membership, enjoy finding the proper, responsible ways to have fun, and keep it fun for those coming after me!  Appreciate it once again, no sense needlessly harming my ride lol appreciate it! Peace!

Tzettler,
I might be heading out tomorrow night at McLean Creek with at least one other jeep. If you still want to get out you're welcome to join us.
