cb tuning

Hey all! over the past few days ive managed to install my newish flares and i just wired up my cb radio and mounted the antenna.
Now i have not connected the two as i have heard doing this before tuning, can damage the cb. I was wondering if anyone has a tuner that can
lend me a hand or knows of a shop that does it?

Comtek in the Road King off of Barlow Trail.

I also have a meter. Is your antenna grounded properly?

GROUND GROUND GROUND GROUND GROUND!!!!!!!!!!

That is all. Good ground will net you better signal. I have 2 meters somewhere here but im almost 3 hours north of Calgary... Knox on here has one of my meters and may be willing to also lend it out :)

I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

Ground! so connect a wire from the antenna mount to a solid place on the frame?

Pretty much. It's supposed to ground through your mount but a lot of people end up running aluminium clamps as mount, and/or don't clean the paint off the mount/mounting surface. I find it easier just to run a wire from the antenna to the body/frame somewhere.

Also take note when you install the antenna that there is a plastic grommet. This absolutely must be in the correct way or your setup will not work. I have tuned many setups where the plastic washer was installed incorrectly.

I was going to mount it on my tire carrier but due to my oversized tire,
I don't have room so I've mounted it on the drivers side end of my rear
Bumper. (Non-aluminum mount) So if I scratch off paint on from the bottom (since the plastic connector
Goes on the upper half) that should ground it?

Correct although depending on your tire carrier the carrier itself may be insulated by the grease on the pivot pin. The larger your grounding plane the better reception you will get which is why running a wire to the body/frame is recommended. If the tire carrier is insulated your grounding plane is only as big as the carrier itself.
