Help installing 2" coil spacers on a TJ
« on: February 28, 2013, 07:16:19 PM »
Hey guys, our 2" lift just arrived.
My hubby is planning on installing it, except he doesn't have experience with that so I was wondering if anyone who has done it before would be willing to lend a hand?
He's mechanically inclined, don't worry, it would just reassure me if someone with knowledge on this helped out.

We're in the SW of Calgary. Send me a message and we can talk about a time/payment.

thanks :)

I've done spacers on my 2006 TJ. More than willing to help out if need be.

You would have to be a complete helmet kid to screw that up. I'd lend your husband his beans back for a couple hours and let him do it.

I've lifted a few TJ's for complete strangers before. I can help fellow Jeeple out again. No fee or payment is necessary .  :)

Send me a PM if you require any assistance. I'm available all day  Friday and part of Saturday.

Great choice Samm. Given the advice in your last post you saw right thru us and cut to the chase.

Read the directions.
Line up the tools.
And have at 'er.

Whoever sold you the lift will hopefully be there when you have questions.

And If not, Noel - aka Tubby on here has probably forgotten more about jeeps and 4x4ing than most of us will ever know...
I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

Yep, don't get me wrong, help is nice, especially from someone who knows what they are doing - I just think with instructions that thorough, you should be able to do it yourself (with your husbands help/guidance using the jack and hand tools) DIY is a big part of jeep culture and the satisfaction from being able to say "actually I installed the lift myself" is something you will enjoy as much as playing offroad. If your really unsure, get Tubby to come over and supervise, you'll be surprised what you can do with a little guidance !

Thanks for the kind words fellas !

Sometimes we have to remember that we all started somewhere. I remember being 18 and so stoked to take my 71 Ford F100 on 33's with rear LSD and Tulsa PTO winch to Waiparous  for the first time thinking I was all that lol ! A lot of complete strangers to me from this club/forum have graciously offered their time, tools, garage space and kindness to me over the last few years. Some of those strangers are now very close friends and I'm happy that this club/forum has done that for me. I'm not bad wrenching on Jeeps and 4x4's but there are a lot of talented folk around here that could still school my butt.

The 4x4 community is small in Calgary now, and the Jeepers even smaller. We sometimes have to make time and share our knowledge with the next generation of young wheelers who will hopefully maintain and enjoy what little trails we have left here in AB.

Cheers

sweet good luck! I just removed my pucks and put grand cherokee springs in the front of my tj.. works good for that extra inch to make it about 3!
