Dana 44a skid and truss
« on: March 21, 2013, 08:10:30 PM »
I know a lot people don't like the Dana 44a.. That's what my WJ has.. I want to run 35's this year. I have a line on a new trust and skid for my 44a and was just wondering what you guys think.. My plan is to trust and skid my 44a, buy an open carrier and put an Aussie locker in it. With upgraded shafts.. Should hold up shouldn't it??

Plenty have done this, I'm running 315's on a 44a with no issues. I'll truss it though as well before I lock and really wheel it.

Which engine do you have?

And Fraser there is a guy on the Mallcrawlin forum named Quadratokn who has designed and is selling a 44a truss and skid.. Introductory price of $185 for the truss and $85 for the skid if your interested..

Have you priced out a ZJ rear bracket kit? Probably about the same as what you quoted for truss and skid. Then put in what ever you want with any locker you want.

the WJs use the wishbone three link in the rear clay; probalby be a lot of work to make a ZJ kit work i think.

you could run a claytons rear kit, and then any axle you want :)
i think Dave (brokenaxle) is running claytons rear long arms and JK axles

I was runnin a welded d44a in the rear zj on 36" iroks
And u can ask any of the guys on here I run my rig
Harder then it should off been. and ran it in the highriders chanellge
Last year and the d44a held up ended snaping
The front d30 in half lo
Should of trussed them loll
The aluminum center had some battle scares but was not bad at all
I be runin  a FF14 bolt and d60 on 40's  now lol
That have been trussed

Trussing a diff is always better then not trussing a diff
Just my 2 cents  ps : nice wj ya got there sir
