« on: May 21, 2013, 08:43:31 PM »
So I would just like to know if I am doing it right. When I rotate my tire on my jk i just for front to back. Should I be going left and right as well?

Are you doing a 4 or 5 tire rotation?

4 tire rotation.

Move rear tires straight forward and criss-cross the fronts to rear.

So, RR to RF, RF to LR , LR to LF and LF to RR.

Make sure they aren't directional first

That is correct if a 2 wheel rear drive vehicle but on a 4x4 or FWD vehicle it is better to move the fronts to rear same side and criss cross the rear to front..

Some folks do - some don't. Eventually your tires will die a natural death due to old age, so there's an argument to include all five in your rotation so that you don't end up throwing out and unused tire eventually. Then again, some folks get good value for their money by keeping a used tire that already close to worn out as their spare. I like to run a 5-tire rotation, but that's just personal preference.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

I run a 4 tire rotation, but only cause my spare is matching in size and offset only. If I didn't pay 100 for the brand new tire and 50 for the brand new rim. I'd probably spend the 400 for a matching spare and definitely rotate the 5. I've been through 3 different tire brands/tread types since buying the spare, if your like me at all in that regard, you'll end up with a mismatched spare eventually if you don't rotate it in.
