'13 JK CAI w/ Snorkel?
« on: July 07, 2013, 05:20:11 PM »
Hey this might be a dumb question, but can I use a snorkel with a CAI on a '13 JK?  And anyone have a specific CAI or snorkel to recommend?

Thanks!

Given that a snorkel is going to pull cold air from the outside of your Jeep and bring it to your air filter, would that not make a cold air intake slightly less useful than a snowblower in Tijuana?
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

Yeah never really got into vehicles too much before, didn't even know what exactly made a cai work lol now that I've done some reading...... anyone have a good snorkel to recommend for a '13 JK?   Surely there's one that is better than the rest?

Thanks for the input, lol.

That's what these stupid vehicles do... They suck you in. Lol
The first question you should ask is why do you even want one? A cai and a snorkle are all 300+. Are you into wheeling? A snorkle might be a better bet. But I would spend money else where for my first mods, ie a winch, recovery gear, tuner (to adjust tpms, throttle responsiveness).  etc.

Just bought the parts for a CAI down in the states for $50, I honestly never planned on doing a CAI because it was basically way to expensive and well your better off with a snorkel. That being said when I found the do it your self parts down in Idaho at the local auto zone for $50 i could not refuse it, ended up bringing my intake up about another 6" with it, hopefully though it doesn't act as a straw when we do water crossing haha! Also hopefully the parts will help me build my own snorkel in the future as well!

I'm sure that your YJ will be fine. Everyone knows that the magical water pixies are only attracted to JK's. That's why every JK without a snorkel hydrolocks.

No need for a snorkel on a yJ there are some pretty sweet tricks you can do to get the filter tucked right up under the cowl. No problem. I will show you on your islander if you want. If it has a cone filter it's easy peasy
