will my stock Jeep handle the easy trails at Mclean Creek
« on: September 23, 2013, 02:58:45 PM »
hey guys

I just bought me a 1995 YJ, all stock. I am new to off roading, and can't wait to get out there to get a taste. I am wondering about my tires, would the stock 235/75- 15" be good enough to try some of the easy trails? I will be joining a friend who's been there once or twice before, I just want to make sure before I head out this weekend.

thanks

You already are modified;). If you've got 235/75/15s you are already 1" higher. Stock tire for a yj was 205 or 215. Back to the topic at hand. Yes you'll be just fine. There are bypasses around most of the really hard stuff. Report back when your nerves are shot and you have become addicted.
Enjoy
Mike

Just make sure you have solid tow points secured to the frame.  There is a second bolt hole for tow hooks underneath the plastic cover in the front if you have not found them already

Buki, my YJ came with 225s
'95 YJ with a few mods

make sure you have the ability to shift your transfer case into 4wd. It sounds funny but I went with a stock jk rubicon and they got stuck. I was so confused since a rubi can obv go farther then my stock f350. Nope they just didn't know how to put it in 4wd. They kept shifting from 2wd into neutral and back.

Myfirstjeep,
What day are you and your friend going? If you don't mind I would like to join you. It doesn't matter to me what trails you want to do, I just like getting out.
