2014 Jeep Willys Edition
« on: November 19, 2013, 02:06:44 PM »
http://jalopnik.com/the-2014-jeep-wrangler-willys-wheeler-edition-is-the-pu-1467354815

After debuting at the 2013 Los Angeles International Auto Show, the latest special edition Wrangler will hit the showrooms early next year at $25,795. The Willys Wheeler is the purist's dream as Chrysler imagines it.

Based on the Wrangler Sport, this new Jeep focuses on upgraded hardware that serves a functional purpose, including a Dana 44 rear axle with limited-slip rear differential and 3.73 gears, BF Goodrich KM Mud Terrain LT255/75R17 tires, rock rails and a new Jeep Trail Rated Kit that includes a D-Ring, tow strap and gloves in a branded bag. This works with the 4x4 part-time, two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio to improve its off-road capabilities.

...then put a gloss black grille with black Jeep badge, gloss black front and rear bumper appliques, historic satin black "4 Wheel Drive" rear tailgate decal and "Willys" hood decals, high-gloss black 17-inch aluminum wheels and a Sunrider soft top and deep-tint sunscreen rear windows on the base Wrangler Sport to make it look old school.

Powered by the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with 285 horsepower and 260 ft-lb or torque linked to a six-speed manual or an available five-speed automatic, the Willys Wheeler will be available in any Wrangler color and come with satellite radio as standard, with the Sunrider soft top and black-splatter Freedom Top remaining on the options list, just like the Wrangler's iconic half doors.

The two-door will start at $25,795, with the Unlimited costing almost four grand more at $29,595.

The purse has GLOVES in it Vince. Nothing says old school jeeping like some gloves and decals.  :o ::)

I'm not seeing the "upgraded hardware that serves a functional purpose" aside from the D44 and 3.73's .  It's basically the same as the Rocky Mountain TJ that I bought back in 04... not a bad base to start from but definitely no rubi.

Yup, they do. The only things that I see that are functional upgrades from the bare-bones model are the tires, rock rails, and tow hook...all of which are straight off the Rubi, just like they've done on the Mountain edition, the Islander, and whatever else their marketing team has cooked up.

Have it come from the factory with 4.10's, a 4:1 transfer case, and half doors in addition all of the stuff that's on it, and you'll get my attention.

Mr Williams, at this point in time, I think you should be one of the last people to consider commenting on any subject regarding a purse, and the ownership or driving of, an offroad vehicle........................................

Bahhahahahaha.  Hey I wheel the ZJ from time to time.

TJ has been uncovered and I started to install parts this past weekend.  I think I'm going to have some questions about getting that front track bar setup.

You'd think they could come up with a name more original. Hate to see something with so much plastic given the same name as a real jeep that started the entire jeep family and has so much history.

I agree - there is nothing Willys about that Jeep - it's kinda cool, and all that, for a "luxury car", but it is not a Willys and I think it is wrong to put that label on there !

I agree.......a decal and a purse. WOW~~That's got to be worth
what........$38.41 What a deal....my eyes are starting to tear up.
If someone drove this "vehicle" out to McLean with me this weekend
it would not make it back alive. I have a 03 TJ Sahara with a rear
Dana 44 with LSD and 3.73's and a couple of other things. BUT...
not to the tune of $25,795. A Willys wheeler a purists dream,,,,,,
maybe if you are on bad drugs. IMHO a joke.

Wow. Do tell us of all the wonderful things your rig has over that JK. Other than a winch and one extra inch of tire size....

It's a decal package. Could have been so much more. Much like the Moab and islander. Be cool if they offered one with the rubi 44's but a regular transfer case. Or a bare bones version, no a/c or power options, steel wheels.

Well at least it still looks like a Jeep. Unlike the newest mall crawler, the 2014 cherokee. Wish I had that rock selector in my XJ.
01 XJ, RE 3.5" lift, Smittybilt XRC front & rear bumper, X2O 8,000 lb winch, 33" MT/R's
, ARB snorkel, lockers and a bunch of other stuff
06 TJ, 2" lift, 31" Goodyear Territory's.
14 JKU, wife's urban 4X4.
