Why did you stick with the turdy5 man? Find one that was already geared 4.10?

yep. had em out of a parts jeep so basically free.  i guess i could have sold them for a couple hundred bucks but whats the point?  picked up a used locker for 100$.  why not?  i'm keeping my eyes open for a 4.10 Ford 8.8 or 31 spline 9" if one ever comes along on Kijiji i'll probably jump on it. 
i don't know tho man, i was playing around the other day at my buddies acreage trying to bump it up a steep hill.. in 2low..... and hammering the rev limiter and it never snapped.....

eventually i will break it, but i'll find a diff to swap in over christmas. i need some christmas bonus monies to come in then i can look around.

Lockers has actually help the Turdy5 because it keeps the stresses on the axles constant and equal, unlike an open diff where one tire can be spinning, then suddenly get traction and boom.  Now lockers don't help with tube flex.  I ran my turdy5 with an ARB for several years with no issues

Yup fair enough man, gotta love parts jeeps!! My bro has been running an aussie locked d35 in his xj on 33's for a couple years now...and he is not easy on the skinny pedal. Luck of the draw...just like anything I guess!

i'll eventually lock the front too then i'm sure it won't have to much stress on the rear diff.

just poured a rum. time for an update.  decided 33s aren't enough.  I bought SpecialKs duratracs off him (35s) they aren't aggressive enough, however, nice for winter and street driving and I do admit I LOVE the look of them.
with the 4.10 gears its pretty good I like it. feels like it did stock.




I need to do some fender work to ensure they will fit well and I feel when i'm done there will be lots of work for 36s haha :)

right now, its a pretty sweet street jeep. lol

so pick n pull update............

got myself some cavalier seats out of a 99 2 door. these were bolt in. unbolt old jeep seats from risers and new ones bolt on. had to shim them in the rear so I am not looking straight up. but overall, one of the best mods I've ever done. they look great and are super comfy and absorb some of the crappy bumps |YJs emit haha




i'm sure BUKI would agree.....



and................. picked up today.............


Ford 8.8 with 4.10 gears.  it has an LSD........ that will go for a locker here soon........ i'm thinkin aussies front and rear....... time to build.

I love the seats John, my racing seats fit in well enough, and are very comfy, but I have to do a funky advanced yoga move to get in and out.  I am guessing you will be happier with your over the long run.  Jeep looks great - what are you doing for perches on the 8.8? saving the stocks or buying?

I wanted racing seats but really my wide arse isn't a good match.  Cav seats are nice. I grabbed a whole install kit off Eric.  Ruff stuff kit ) with all new perches. It will stay spring under. I Plan 35 or 36" tire tops so stock susp will suffice I think

picked up a whole bunch of parts. slow go with the baby around.

February wife is going back to Ontario, i have three weeks to get a lot done.

on the docket:
new clutch
rear main seal
any other seals
custom exhaust with a TJ down pipe into a side exit
finish installing 8.8 with my lokka
lower it an inch
maybe just maybe, tube fenders
maybe snorkel

i guess i didn't have much to add: i was just bored figured i'd post stuff up

Who did you go with for a rear locker? when i was ordering my 8.8 lunchbox locker i didnt see any for the lsd carrier?
