Broken Steering Box Shaft, Any Easy Fix?
« on: October 17, 2014, 05:54:34 PM »
Hey guys I was out wheeling today in McLean Creek and broke what I believe is the drive from my steering box that connects to the pitman arm.  Uploaded the pic.  Wondering, A) is there a way I can rig this to get me out to the gravel road at least?  B) if not, I have no one who can help pull me out and I was hoping someone might offer me assistance for the right price.  Only two minor obstacles to get through (a bit of mud) to reach me.  Finally, for repairs, any tips, inexpensive parts, etc?

Thanks in advance everyone, need this girl back up and running soon so all help is good help!

Sector-shaft damage . That's quality breakage and have never encountered or experienced that one ( thank goodness)

Not an easy trail repair so post up a pic if you can. I'm trying to think some temporary/butch welding can be done to at least get you off the trail but there's no way you're limping that puppy home. Looks like a new steering box is in order, or at the very least one from a wrecker.

I'm sorry I can't be of any help to you as I'm out of the province but there should be some good folk here that might be able to help you out of this pickle.

Good luck !
