Front Output bearing On Transfer Case
« on: October 26, 2014, 11:50:34 AM »

Anybody have experience replacing this bearing? I have read that it requires opening up the T-Case. I have done a SYE in the past and know whats involved in splitting apart the T-Case. However I don't know how to go about replacing the bearing.

Anybody care to chime in about the intricacies of this job?

Do I have to remove the tail section from the back end of the T-Case or can I just leave it on and split in two?

Thanks !

To answer my own questions

1. The Bearing is Held in by a snap ring and is easy to remove once the seal is popped off.

2. You do not need to separate the two, Although getting it back together with RTV and all will be interesting...

Were you able to remove and reinstall that bearing without taking the transfercase out of the jeep?
