Hi All,

Has anybody removed a 5.7 engine from a Jeep commander?

My engine is blown and I have a replacement already.

I have taken apart the whole front , but I don't know where to start to remove the engine.

does anybody  have a written procedure of how to remove it?

i really don't want to take it out from underneath as the Haynes manual recommends.

Thanks

if somebody wants to make some bucks and remove it from me also let me know.   I have all the tools and a heated garage.

thx

Its not all that hard to drop it out below! I'd do the research...theres only 8-10 bolts holding,in that rail....plus engine and granny disconnection.

If Haynes recommends you drop it out below it might be your best option... Basically, just mark every hose and wire with tape and a number and disconnect everything going from the engine into the cab. Then undo the bolts on your bell housing, your exhaust manifold, motor mounts, and anything else thats holding it from coming out the top with a lift and your set...
I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...
