Problem filling my gas tank.
« on: July 05, 2006, 10:43:15 PM »
Ok anyone come across this? After the long weekend I tried to put gas in my jeep and I now have to pump it very slowly or the pump clicks off. I took alot of rough gravel roads so something has shifted or blocked something inside the filler tube I'm assuming.

only problem i've enountered is the frequency of visits and cost per fillup.

oh that's right.... I drive a Jeep. should be expected.

does it pump fine if you pull the handle out a couple inches? it's the only way I can fill mine.

Some of our company trucks will not fill up at some older gas stations. Somethinga bout the pour spout and filler tube not liking each other.

Na, this is a new problem since the weekend. I always fill up at the same place and I'm having a problem now. Tried a couple different gas stations and same thing.

When I look down the filler pipe I see a plastic tube going down the middle. This is the vent tube when filling. I think something has moved or something??

check this link out.

I rememeber hearing about this a while ago. Might score you an extra 5 gallons if your yj is 91-95.

Thanks Apex, that's probably where my problem lies. That tube probably got kinked somehow. I was thinking about that writeup but couldn't find it.

Problem fixed. Turns out it was the end of my jerry can plastic hose fell into the filler neck causing a resrtriction, Also while i had it apart I did the conversion only to find out I already had the 20 gallon option. Should have known before since I can put over 70 litres in

HAHAHA  :D  :D  :D

too funny.

I got you beat. That "nasty" sound I was tell u about. T-case skid wasn't bolted up tight. Was rattling the spacers makin a wiked sound. Then my check engine light came on. Pulled the code P0455 - Major Leak in the Evap System. referenced my haynes and DC service manual, then cross referenced online... only to find out...  Please tighten your gas-cap. I got a good chuckle out of that. Felt like a bonehead 4sure.

I don't mean to jack your post, but I get that same error code about the leak. I even changed to a new gas cap cause I read some may be faulty. I've checked all the hoses in the system and still can't find anything but the code keeps coming back.

For those reocuring problems we hook up a smoke machine to the evap system and look where the smoke is coming out to see where the leak is.
