Whats your milage and how are you setup?

I have had an 88 and a 01 XJ, but I cant remember what their fuel milage's were.
Both of mine were 4 door, stock, I6's automatics. I am tempted to say 7km/L  = ~20MPG for city driving. That seems too good to be true.  Maybe thats highway driving.
The Nissan Versa I rented got a whopping 12km/L with 50/50 driving. Drove out to Chain Lakes to check it out. So maybe it was more like 30/70 city/highway.

My 98 XJ on 35's with 4.56 gears and auto. Decent load usually, gets about 450kms per tank. I've had better mileage and performance with better fuel. My old yj was very similar. 4.0L, 5 speed, 4.10 gears and 33's. Don't trust the fuel gauge in any jeep. I learned the hard way.
I tried centex fuel because they were cheaper once, and I got 50 less km's on that tank of fuel. So never again. I put shell in regular or premium in all my vehicles and never have any issues. Only have issues when I tried the husky fuel or centex.
It is what it is, if you want amazing fuel mileage then buy a small car. If you want to be cool and get the ladies then drive a jeep:)

I thought the same thing then I re-read his post and realized he said 12 kms per liter, not 12 liters per 100 kms.

I guess it would be better if I drove better, with rentals I dont baby them at all, I actually drive them harder.

Yes I used km per liter, not L/100km. Its easy to get milage with km/L.

with the 2013 JKUR pentastar, 4.10 gears, manual 6-speed,  33's and 2.5"lift I was getting  around 15-16L/100km

I'm driving a new, bone stock, auto equipped 2016 4 door sport with 3.21's and the digital readout is telling me I'm getting 13.7 L/100 kms. Thats with less than 100 k on the odometer. Not sure if it will change any once broken in.

It will. I was getting 11.5L/100 highway on my truck. Just turned 5000 on the odometer.... getting 10.0L/100 on the same stretch of highway.

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

my 5.3L Sierra gets 9L/100km all day long.  30mpg.  gets the same mileage as the neighbours civic. 


not sure why people think V8s are so inefficient.  I drive it hard too.

I do wish the jeep was better. it only gets about 25MPG.  35s, 4.10s 4 door rubicon.

I average just shy of 20 MPG from my V8 Johnny. It's not terribly fuel efficient.

Then again, it's a 6.4, the car weighs 4500 pounds, and the Texas State Troopers don't even notice any speed below 90 MPH on the interstate. I don't really work all that hard at keeping the RPM low.

sounds the same as my old ram.  put a trailer behind it and it gets worse LOL

New chev van. 4.8 litre. Gets 15.8 liters per 100 km.

Johnny I think your 5.3 is probably stuck running on 4cyl if its getting 30 mpg  with a heavy foot.

My Jeep 4.0 2004 TJ on 35" tires, 4.88 gears 5 spd manual, gets about 300 km to gas light.....I have roughly 50 litres? to gas light so I get.....16.7L/per 100Km or about 14 mpg. Clean air filter decent pressure etc. Mixed driving.

Rating by the U.S. Gov (Canadian ratings are way to optimistic) for my Jeep is 14 city 18 highway mpg

Civic will do 6.5-7.0 L/per 100kms mixed driving 35 mpg

Dodge 6.7 dpf delete 13.0L/ per 100kms average mixed driving (no heavy city) 18 mpg
