Provincial wide fire ban
« on: May 05, 2016, 06:39:31 PM »
Have you read the latest news? The provincial government has issued
a province wide fire ban. They are asking people to stay off of their
ATV's and off-road vehicles.

Truth be told, Ive actually had a fire start on the family farm from the heat off the engine of my ATV as well. Just a few years ago I was harvesting lumber for the wood pile and the heat from the engine block of my Polaris 500  was enough to ignite the dry grass where I shut her off. The quad survived with some melted plastic fenders but I was able to get it out of the way and snuff out the flames with some old clothing but with the lack of precipitation right now the threat is very real.
I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

The fire ban won't be lifted until the northern fire is under control.
The reason is because all the fire departments are running minimal staff due to sending every available firefighter north and the last thing they need is unnecessary fires down here.

It doesn't matter if we get daily rain down here.

They did the same thing with the Slave Lake fire.

I wouldn't be surprised if the ban stayed until Sept

Haha yeah there are constantly fire bans...never stopped anyone from wheeling before...

I think the warning is aimed more at ATV's and other non street legal vehicles which have some track record of starting fires.

Street legal Jeeps starting fires on trails...haha...No.

Heard the speech from the minister of municipal affairs on 1010 am radio. They are doing everything from the ft Mcmurray fire story live as government officials announce. News feeds say atv ban.

Fixed it for you. Please choose to act in line with the principles this club tries to uphold, and make the choice to act responsibly.

Emergency services are already stretched past the breaking point province-wide....and there are still thousands of people trapped on the NORTH side of the fire. I have multiple friends that are still stuck up there...and one friend who is flying North to help evacuate people.

If you don't know what to do with yourself this weekend, but maybe instead of demonstrating that it's all about what you feel like doing you might consider doing something to help the 88,000 people that don't have a home right now.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(
