McLean Creek Access
« on: August 23, 2016, 08:36:58 PM »
Does anyone know why Jeep / Vehicle access has been stopped into McLean Creek from the staging area closest to the campground.
I went out on Sunday for a nice easy drive out to Quirk Trail and Cobble Flats for a weenie roast with my kids.
However the whole area around the gate has been closed off with boulders to only allow bikes and quads through.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks All,

I'm not aware of any closures, but you can give AEP a call.

It has been like that for a long time.  Probably 2 years.  You can go in via the entrance to the south to the "Mclean Trail" which does not get you to the road, but there is no official access to the road.  There are multiple unofficial routes through the trees....

It is clear in the official map: http://aep.alberta.ca/recreation-public-use/recreation-on-public-land/public-land-use-zones/documents/McLeanGeoreferenceMap-Apr2016A.pdf

Green is quads and purple trucks.  No official access to the road.  Really not well thought out.

I'll add that a bunch of previously truck designated trails have been removed from the map.
