Sad day in our Jeep world today
« on: May 21, 2018, 06:33:35 PM »
After spending this beautiful weekend on the trails with good friends and having a great time, I unfortunately have some bad news.
Monday morning John Campacci passed away from a heart attack. He has been with the club in one form or another for more then 10 years. A lot of us knew him as the gentle giant. He was the friendliest big guy we knew.
Over the years most people wheeled with him or bought jeep parts from him. Everyone would have a good Johnny story.
I have personally had the good fortune of wheeling, camping and just hanging out with Johnny on many occasions over the years. It’s bitter-sweet that this past Sunday I got to do a little wheeling with Johnny. Had a beer around a campfire and have a good laugh with his family and mine. He always had a smile and would talk “jeep” for hours.
He was a great guy and I feel blessed that I got to know him for so long.
Funeral arrangements are being made and will be posted.

Rest In Peace Brother, you will be missed.

Oh no. Man, I loved that guy. Always loved stopping by, buying, selling, swapping parts, and jeep talk. Johnny man, go well. You are remembered very fondly.

I'm sad to hear this.  Hardly knew him, but met him a couple of times, and he didn't seem like just a great guy - he WAS a great guy.

RIP Johnny.

Very sad day. You were living so close but yet life got busy and we didn't hang too much in the past few years. I still remember a CJA poker night in my garage (packed with stinky jeepers, cigars and drinks) and trying to put in the AX15 into the white Commanche...barbarian style. Good memories...Rest In Peace mon Frère!

I've known Johnny for years... we suffer from the same Jeep buying addiction and would always txt each other with our latest Kijiji finds.   I also know he was a well liked and a popular guy.  Lots of people missing you tonight brother... May you rest in peace.

If you know me then you'll know I'm usually not a loss for words but  I feel gutted. JohnnyC was one of the first guys to hangout with me at my first meeting. A genuinely good guy and always happy. I have fond memories of the man, from taking turns  winching each other out to messing around in his garage.
I remember every May Long weekend he'd say he didn't give a damn about going wheeling because the trails would be too busy, then I'd get a text on a Friday telling me to come over for an all night thrashfest.
I'm genuinely going to miss that mountain of a man.
Happy Trails bud.

For me, Johnny will always be a part of wheeling - and the brothers that I've found here. Whether it was that first invitation to "wheel with the cool kids" or memories of  Johnny spanking ALL OF US at poker in Dana's garage while we experimented with Sorghum-based parts degreaser and tries to see exactly how many cigars we had to smoke for the air to be legally blue...or "horse trading" a warm six-pack for a take-off JK rear bumper in my driveway. It doesn't matter what was happening, Johnny being there always added to it.

I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

I bought Jeep parts from him a few times, he was an absolutely great guy.  My thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

Rest In Peace Johnny
