Costco AGM Batteries
« on: March 21, 2019, 10:55:23 AM »
Just a heads up for anyone Looking for a battery soon, this might be a great option. From what  I can tell these are pretty new on the market.

For reasons that are not entirely clear to even myself (Yellow Top Still Killing it) I decided to do a dual battery setup and found these beauties. I needed the second battery to be AGM so I could mount it sideways.

$180 and a $10 Core Charge (They also have a smaller Size AGM for $160 comparable to a D35 yellow top, but for the extra $20 bucks I figured it was worth going for the biggie)

Are these the grey ones? If so they’ve been around a few years. I had on in my yj. Needed to warranty it but will get another. Only downside is the posts are backward from the proper top post for a Jeep.
If this is a new type of agm at Costco I’ll have to check it out.

I ran my Odyssey AGM from 2010 through to 2017, and it was an absolute champ. It even gave me lots of warning when it started going downhill on me.

I can't speak for Costco brand AGM....but a good quality AGM is very much worth the money for a rig that's going offroad.

Did you install a matched pair of new AGM's Jamal?
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

No I didn't.....now that you mention it

What I did was use the Costco as my main starting battery/winch battery/attached to the altenator and my old yellow top as the auxiliary battery.

In between them I bought this smart isolator from Amazon which monitors both batteries voltages and disconnects and reconnects the batteries appropriately when the voltage drops on one of the batteries.

Here is a link I would be curious to hear your thoughts.

As far as quality goes, Costco is usually pretty good but who knows...the warranty is good piece of mind at least.

Good to hear... that’s what I’m running now but didn’t know anybody else that was running one.
