reseting the engine light

Anyone know how to reset the check engine light?  I have a thing that reads the error codes and sould reset them ... but apparently Chrysler has some problems in the 1996-2002 model year with ODB-II commands.  My Scan guage won't reset it.

Anyone ever try a scan guage?...it's a cool little device.  It is a trip computer, does diagnostics and gives you a digital readout from your engine.

Just pull the negative battery cable. That should reset things for you.

I got one a few months ago so I could read the engine temperature, gas mileage etc on my motorhome.  It works great, tells you how much gas you are/have used...the gauge is great ...but watching the gas mileage on a motorhome is rather depressing...

I recieved the Scangauge a couple of days ago, definitely a neat little gadjet.
It seems to be able to do everything the cheap code readers can do and then lots more, for example, it will "freeze" the data when the vehicle throws a code. it can measure air intake temperature, engine load, TPS position, current and average mpg, current and max rpm, current and max coolant temp, current, max and average speed.
Another nice feature is the compact size and it goes from vehicle to vehicle easily.

Just curious, does that thing give you actual data from the sensors, such as o2 sensors and maf sensors? Or does it just give the filtered information such as codes and fuel economy?
